William Rittase Portfolio

These striking four image portfolios are the work of William Rittase, master photographer for the C&O.

Set A: These dramatic images were taken in the early 1940s at the height of his style and ability. Included in this set are four images of the massive H-8 locomotive at various stages of preparation for the long heavy haul over the Alleghenies.

Set B: The Engineer: This portfolio features images of "old hand of cunning" -- the locomotive Engineer -- at work during the 1940's.

All images are 11x14 inches and printed on high quality gloss photographic paper.
