This 411 page reprint of a 1968 C&O / B&O Yard Clerk Manual is a MUST have item for modelers interested in model railroad operating sessions and prototype movement of freight cars!!! Pages are printed items on the front and back; it is all ready to be put in a 3 ring binder. This manual is printed in its original 8.5 by 11 format, has color dividers between the 29 sections, and 3 pre-drilled holes.

Some of the subjects covered in this manual: Car Identification, Waybills, No Bills-No Cars, Car Distribution and Utilization, Car Service Rules, Interstate Commerce Commission, Association of American Railroads, Reciprocal Switching, Car Tracing, Per Diem, Demurrage, Excessive Dimensions, Dangerous and Explosive, Diversion and Reconsignment, Weighing, Livestock - Perishable - Trailer Service, and Data Processing. A glossary of railroad terminology is included to help the reader gain more understanding of operations, and a VERY interesting Flow Chart illustrates Car Movement and associated paper flow through Divisions and Yard Operations. Also included are 30 C&O/B&O division maps, which are very useful for understanding car routing as it relates to the railroad's mainline operations.

Includes photographs and diagrams of rolling stock, sample way bills, interline switching waybill, perishable freight way bill, sample bills of lading, illustrations, and lots of other forms (most with examples and explanations on how to use and complete them). At the end of the manual is a 67 page Application and Review section in which "Charlie Consist" roll plays and explains things such as consisting Lake Coal, Tide Coal, the differences between manifest and commercial coal, etc.
