This 42 sheet booklet (printed front and back) was originally pocket sized, but his reprint has been enlarged to fit an 8 ½ x 11 sheet of paper that already have 3 holes punched in the paper. This booklet gives descriptions on how to handle freight and passenger trains with topics such as “starting, slack action, slow downs, emergency stops, brakes sticking, starting train, helper locomotives, back-up movements, dynamic braking, steam circulation, heat regulation (passenger cars), door on rear of train, cars detached, car lighting, folding steps, tight lock couplers, switching cars, camp cars, postal cars, wood rack cars, flat cars, hot journals, locomotive doors, flat spots on wheels, stopping in tunnels, derailments, fire prevention, multiple unit operation,” etc. Much of this information will be VERY useful for modelers interested in realistic train operation.
