The financial services firm of Cyrus J. Lawrence & Co, did this study on the C&O’s operations, management, resources, and prospects in 1951, prepared for the benefit of investors interested in railroad stocks. The report covers financial aspects of the company, but also spends considerable time describing the management style of the officers, and how the “unconventional” management of the company has placed it in a strong position financially with good future prospects. Robert R. Young is still Chairman at this time. A good deal of space devoted to analyzing the prospects of coal, and of the condition of the C&O’s rolling stock and ability to meet the needs of its shippers in an efficient and cost effective way.
