Chessie's Story With the slogan "Sleep Like a Kitten," Chessie made her debut as an official C&O representative in an advertisement that featured in the September 1933 issue of Fortune magazine. The advertisement, which was printed in black and white, omitted the kitten's name. The advertisement's original color etching was created by Vienna-based artist Guido Grünewald, who specialized in depicting cats and other animals. It was acquired for the railroad's use for $5.
