This small booklet was issued to instruct employees on how to prepare, couple, and uncouple the C&O s early Roadrailer vans to passenger trains. The Roadrailer or Railvan (C&O used both names) was highway trailer that also had railroad guide wheels which could be lowered as the trailers were attached to a transition truck which was coupled to the rear of passenger trains. The Roadrailers saw service on the C&O passenger trains in Michigan in the early-to-mid 1960 s. They were dropped as the railway lost mail contracts since they were used almost exclusively for mail transportation. The idea was revived many years later. This is reprinted on 17 pages of 8.5 x 11 paper.
