Chessie System used C&O Track Charts, created in the 1930s and updated into the 1960s, for its official uses until the early 1980s, when a complete revision and redesign was begun using computer-generated CAD/CAM procedures.

This book (divided into 3 parts because of size) depicts the lines of the former C&O as they existed at the end of the Chessie System era and the beginning of CSX Transportation. Most sheets are dated 1983 or 1984. The charts show all of the railway indicating trackage, sidings, industrial track, crossings, tunnels, bridges, type of ballast, gradient, weight of rail, grade crossings, stations, etc. These charts were used by engineering, maintenance-of-way, and operating personnel as a standard frame of reference for the physical plant of the roadway.
