This 1939 booklet details in great detail exactly how C&O's Less-Than-Carload (LCL) freight was to be handled, how cars were made up, which trains he operated on, what connections they came from and went to at junctions. It gives an excellent picture of a complicated service that was carried on with great accuracy and punctuality in an era long before any automation.
