We are excited to debut the 2011 C&OHS commemorative vintage travel poster by Vermont artist Charlie Hunter. This is the fifth poster in our series which feature key locations along the C&O. Our past posters feature Clifton Forge (2007), Hinton (2008), Huntington (2009), and Richmond (2010).
This year's poster is in the style of the great classic vintage railroad travel posters of the 20's and 30's and celebrates the C&O's western passenger terminal. The image is taken from a point of view standing in front fountains of Cincinati Union Terminal. It is reminiscent of Leslie Ragan's Chicago Poster of 1929 and uses color, light, shadows, and clouds to create a dramatic image that captures the magic of this amazing structure.
CUT will be a featured attraction of the 2011 C&OHS conference. As part of our excursion, we will have a behind the scenes tour of the station , and will also have our grand banquet there on Saturday night. This poster commemorates our conference, this historic site on the C&O, and this wonderful facility.
These posters are shipped to you directly from the artist.
