C&O Passenger Train Consist Book - 1938

This is a 1938-39 issue C&O Passenger Train Consist Book.  It gives the standard make-up on all passenger trains on the system, showing what cars are to be used and how they are arranged on the train.  It also shows where each car goes after it reaches its terminal; that is, what train it goes back out on.

The book also shows the length of trains leaving each terminal.  A complete appendix shows all sleeping cars by name and whether or not they have George Washington letterboards.  All dining cars are listed by name and number and their cycles of use are shown.  Railway Post Offices are shown with the amount of space allocated to each run.  Books of this era  also show all regular and special stops for each train.  The times that each train is to be held for connections are listed.  A really complete depiction of how C&O passenger service operated.
