Chesapeake & Ohio Cranes - by William C. Stone
This book covers all the C&O's wreck cranes, and other styles used in general operations in the 20th century. These cranes range in size from 60-tons to the giant 250-ton lift capacity. Many photos and diagrams/drawings not only document C&O's fleet of cranes, but also illustrate the technology of the crane as a piece of railroad equipment, showing how they were built and how they were used. All the nomenclature pertinent to cranes as a type, and for those used by C&O is covered. This book should give the modeler what is needed to adapt off-the-shelf models to C&O prototypes right down to accurate decals to letter them. Cranes have seldom been covered in our magazine. That is now corrected by this comprehensive history.
