Santa Fe Passenger Trains in California: From the 1940s Thru Amtrak and More
by Patrick C. Dorin

This is another of the regional books by the late Pat Dorin. Dorin was perhaps the most prolific railroad author ever, with well over 50 books to his credit. In this volume he illustrates the AT&SF's passenger trains that ran in California, basically in their last 20 years of operation.
He uses many good photos (including a 16-page color section) , as well as consists and a brief text to tell this interesting story. This was the era of the "War Bonnet" diesels at the head of this great group of trains. Santa Fe never let its passenger trains go downhill and kept the highest quality service right to the end.
Rosters, equipment details, and timetables are reproduced to complete the story. The chapters are: Valley & L A. Divisions--The Coast Line; The San Diegans--The Golden Gates--Equipment used on Calif. Trains--Amtrak--Color section.
Out of print for over a decade!
