Missouri Pacific Passenger Trains – The Postwar Years
By Patrick C. Dorin

Hardbound; 128 pages; 100-lb glossy paper; 200 B&W and color photos & illus.

This is one of the more than 50 books authored by the late Pat Dorin, perhaps the most prolific railroad book author ever. It was originally published in 2003.

Dorin paints a vivid picture of MoPac’s trains in the post-WWII era, showing us the “Eagles” that were so famous nationally. His usual concise and literate text (he was a high school principal) introduces and carries us through the era covered in a very organized way.

The illustrative material is a great strength of this book. There are great photos of the trains in action as well as detailed treatment of motive power
and cars. Photos show the cars inside and out, diagrams and floor plans, while rosters complete the data. Timetables and other illustrations complement the story.

Though not exhaustive history as a MoPac fan might wish, it is a really good overview that the general reader will enjoy.
