20-page pamphlet published by EMD in 1950 to explain tractive effort, what it is, how its calculated, etc. – It gives a detailed yet easily understandable explanation of how tractive effort works, how it can be calculated based on engine size, weight, gear ratio, etc. Examples are given. Tables and illustrations. – These are things we often see in rosters of diesel, bit seldom are the explained. This pamphlet was published in connection with the introduction of EMDF’s F7 road diesels.
