Water/Oil Tank, 43' Peaked Top, HO Scale by Rix
These Rix Products HO models are exactly the same as used by C&O at scores of locations for storing water used both for locomotives and for other company uses. They were of the standpipe variety where the water was softened in an external facility then pumped into the tank through an internal standpipe. These could be seen at most major terminals/yards even well after the end of steam as they were used for watering work train tenders and a variety of other uses. The 40-foot tall variety that this model replicates would have held approximately 100,000 gallons. C&O did have larger types, but this size is average.
