Chessie System – Roadway & Track Standards
C&O, like most Class 1 railroads, Chessie System issued standards for almost all of the maintenance work done on cars, locomotives, and roadway. The C&OHS reproduces copies of equipment and Maintenance-of-Way standards (contact the Society for lists of available books).
This book consists of drawings that crompised the Chessie SYstem Roadwav & Track Standards Book. We have reproduced the book exactly as it was issued on the revision date of March 30, 1981.
These standards books were distributed to foremen, officials, engineers, storekeepers, procument officers, etc. needing to have a ready reference for the railroad’s standard applications for various types of maintenance. C&O issued large books that included details of all types. By the time of Chessie System many of these had been eliminated as the operations were streamlined.
Modelers should find the book of use in replicating historically accurate prototype roadways.
