C&O/PM District Diesel Diagram Book 1952
C&O, like most Class 1 railroads, issued standards for almost all of the maintenance work done on cars, locomotives, and roadway. The C&OHS reproduces copies of equipment diagram and data books, which give all the basic specifications for the locomotives, cars, etc. for use by anyone on the line who might have need, such as mechanical department workers, and others.
This book consists of drawings that comprised the C&O’s Pere Marquette District Diesel Data Book We have reproduced the book exactly as it was on the issue date of March 1, 1952.
When the Pere Marquette Railway was merged into C&O in 1947 it was operated very independently, first as ”The Pere Marquette Districf’ and later as ”The Northern Region” (beginning in 1955 and lasting a few years). This diagram book depicts the diesel locomotives operating on the PM District in 1952, and includes diagrams of the E7s, but the diagrams used are actually for E6s, which the PM/C&O never had. Apparently, when first ordered the locomotives were to be E6s, but by the time they could be delivered the E7 model had supplanted the E6, but the PM/C&O officials continued to use the originally EMD-supplied E6 drawings!
