This data and list was prepared by the C&Os Valuation Department within the Chief Engineer’s Office, as a ready reference for the actual completion date and what company built each segment of track on the C&O. We believe that it was compiled in the early 1920s.
The data shown should be good for historical dating of the railway’s construction. Although the documents on which much of the information is based are now lost, they were available as original sources when the data was put together, and this list can, therefore, be considered nearly as reliable as original sources.
