PM Outline of History for Fifty Years (1873-1913)
This Outline Corporate History was prepared by the Pere
Marquette offices for use in the Valuation Survey of the line, and
was reproduced by spirit duplicator method, dated September 5,
1913, with an additional page of data up to April 1, 1917.
When Congress mandated the valuation of a” American railroads
to establish their current value so as to assist the ICC in
rate cases, etc., each line had to prepare a corporate history, as
well as doing a great deal of other engineering surveys to determine
the value of the line. The PM seems to have prepared this
history in that connection. The document reproduced here was
bound in a blue folder under PM President’s Office File No. 237,
and is in the collection of the C&O Historical Society.
