Passenger Train Cars Lightweight Lunch Counter-Buffet-Lounge 1903 – Chessie Club Photos
This album contains builder photos and in-service photos of Lunch-Counter-Buffet-Lounge Car No. 1903, names Chessie Club. Featuring the new yellow-blue-stainless steel scheme, the car was part of the large C&O post-WWII order to re-equip all its mainline passenger trains. Because of its name and it’s unusual interior configuration with the serpentine seating and lighting, this car has always been a favorite among railfans and modelers. It was used for many years on the trains operating in Michigan on the former Pere Marquette lines. Amtrak bought the car and used it for some years. It was later bought by the Eagle Canon Car Company and Railroad in northeastern West Virginia.
