C&O Passenger Train Consist Book – 1938
C&O issued a consist pages every time the composition of a passenger train was changed. These were kept in books and used by operating and mechanical personnel to assemble, adjust, schedule, and prepare cars for use on each train. By looking at these consists one can easily see how trains looked in this era at various locations and to study how cars were utilized. Information also included: dining car assignments, mail car assignments, how long trains were to be held for connections, and in the older pages such as these, regular and flag stops.
Old sheets were destroyed when new ones were issued, so few older pages survive. This 1937-1939 group is the oldest set we have found as of 2012.
