This booklet was first published by the C&O Historical Society in 1973. It was the second publication the Society developed. Herbert H. Harwood, the author, was a C&O/B&O official and prominent railfan of the time. In addition to this pamphlet to the Society, he also wrote and extensive explanatory article about The Chessie (the Budd-built equipment in this pamphlet) in the July, 1968, issue of Trains magazine. The information shown in this pamphlet was current at the date of its publication in 1973, but of course, final dispositions up to the present time are not covered.
