The drawings reproduced in this set are taken from the C&O’s X-Series of drawings. This number series was for small drawings, usually 8×10 or 8-1/2×11. Since these small drawings would only accommodate a small structure design, plan, map, or track layout (plat), this series is ideal for finding small structures that were scattered over almost the entire C&O System. Most of these drawings were prepared in the 1920s and 1930s. Many if not most of these structures surrived throughout the steam era and many well into the 1960s. Because their small size, these structures should be of interest to modelers.
