Fox Valley Models HO Scale 2-8-4 Berkshire, Chesapeake & Ohio/Late 1940s
In 1925, Lima Locomotive Works introduced the 2-8-4 Berkshire, a revolutionary locomotive that marked the start of the “Super-Power” era in American railroading. The design was further refined by the Van Sweringen brothers, leading to the iconic Nickel Plate Berk by 1934. Today, eight of these historic Berkshires survive, with two still in operation, including Nickel Plate Road #765 and Pere Marquette #1225, the latter of which inspired The Polar Express.
Fox Valley Models™ HO Scale Berkshire 2-8-4 Steam Locomotive features a die-cast boiler and tender body, a real tender coal load, multi-bearing crossheads, a detailed cab interior, sliding cab roof vents, metal handrails and handrail posts, printed builder’s plates with detailed information, interchangeable drivers with and without traction tires, synchronized puffing smoke unit (DCC only), a powerful motor with 5-pole skew wound armature, and electrical pickup on both the locomotive and tender.
Please Note: The number on this model is correct for a C&O CLass K-4, but the model is more accurate for an ex-Pere Marquette class N 2-8-4. If you want to have a more accurate number for this model it can easily
