Wooden Caboose Photos
This pamphlet contains various portrait views or C&O cabooses from the 1910 period up to the 1960s. Depicted are the small 4-wheel “Bobber” style, the large offset-cupola type, and then the standard centered cupola that were built through 1930 and in service to the end. The last few photos show wooden cabooses in the C&O For Progress lettering scheme with slatted sides and with plywood re-sheeted sides.
Paint scheme for all cabooses until 1956 was red with white lettering. After 1956 the body was yellow and
the lettering black.
