Bridges on the Bluemont Subdivision of the W & 0 D Railroad are given “Mile Post” numbers.
Bridges on the Rosslyn Branch of the W & 0 D Railroad are numbered in order from Rosslyn without regard to mile post location.

“B.F.” shown in description column indicates “Ballast Floor”.
The length of span shown for a timber trestle is the maximum, and does not neoessarily mean all spans are the same.
“Timber Stringers” shown in description column indicates substructure is masonry.
Date shown for steel structures indicate when steel was originally fabricated and not when structure was originally built.
Date shown for timber trestles indicate when structure was built or rebuilt, not when last maintained.
Prefix “F” to bridge number indicates maintenance is by others as shown in foot-note or maintenance column.
Prefix “H” indicates a highway structure over C&O main tracks. When total length is omitted on an overhead structure maintained by others, only the spans or span over Railway tracks is shown.
Bridges located on and over Industrial side tracks are given mile post numbers rather than bridge numbers. The “Mile Post” numbers are those corresponding to the main track for parallel industrial sidings. On other Industrial sidings the Mile Post of the switch
point on the main track is shown.
